In general, information collected by the General Practice Computing Group is only used for administrative or evaluation purposes.
Website
Our service provider makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes - the user's IP address, user's top level domain name (eg. .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc.), date and time of the visit to the site, pages accessed, documents downloaded, previous site visited and type of browser used. No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the service provider's logs.
Mailing lists
If a user chooses to subscribe to a mail list through GPCG, we ask for the user's email address for administrative purposes. Email addresses provided by users for mail list subscriptions will not be sold or provided to third parties.
Membership database
We record information about users including address, contact details and whether you are a qualified general practitioner. We also seek information about member's areas of interest or expertise which is used when seeking representation for the GPCG. This information is only for administrative and evaluation purposes.
Requests
We will only record your email address if you send us a message. We may occasionally send out an email detailing an update to a resource you have previously requested (such as the GP Links Wheel or the bibliographic database). We may use your email address for evaluation purposes (to determine if requests are coming from general practitioners, government, universities etc) to improve our services, but will not use it for any other purpose and will not disclose it without your consent.
Correcting/updating personal information
If a user's personally identifiable information changes, or if a user no longer desires our service, we will endeavour to provide a way to correct, update or remove that user's personal data provided to us. To correct/update personal information, provide details of the requested change to

Data security
Membership lists for the databases and mailing lists are held on secure servers, and are accessible only by authorised personnel. These servers are protected from unauthorised access through a number of security measures, including firewall protection and restricted physical access.
